HP-leaning supercells show off respectable structure near Amarillo at sunset.
I shot west on I-40 after work, hoping to meet storms somewhere in the McLean-Alanreed area if fortune were on my side. Alas, the storm of the day went up near the TX/NM border, then slowed its eastward progress as it turned right and went tornado warned over the NW outskirts of Amarillo. I finally got a decent view of the base around Panhandle just before sunset. Its HP structure was reasonably photogenic, although I probably missed its peak by 10 or 15 minutes. I shot some wide angle stills as it approached, then jumped E for one more view around White Deer at dusk, by which time the storm was again tornado warned but looked incredibly laminar. I made it back home around 1am.
