Unfortunately for us locals, the atmosphere decided to take pity on all the coastal and international chasers locked down by COVID and declare a concurrent lockdown on Plains storms—by many metrics, this was the worst spring since 1988. I snagged a quality tornado near home in April, but it was all downhill from there, culminating in a debacle of a trip in June that saw me zig-zagging the northern Plains for a full week with nothing to show for it. The fourth and final in an excruciating string of really unpleasant chase years for me.
