Having nailed the previous year like never before, I knew I was due for a letdown—and 2017 made good on that fear with aplomb. In a slightly below-average Plains season overall, I not only missed every quality tornado day, but didn't even capture any memorable structure or photos. This was my personal worst season to date, and it also kicked off a yearslong stretch of doldrums and frustration for me.
